Where would you like to go?

Ready to plan your next adventure in a land far removed from city lights and traffic noise? Florida's "Nature Coast" is an area of almost a million acres where it is easy to discover the "real Florida" ... dense forests, prairies, and blackwater rivers. Ample opportunities exist for trail hiking, kayaking, bicycling, fishing, bird watching, and many other activities. Even so, you are never far from a town - some quaint and historically significant - where you can still enjoy the comforts of home.

The map below shows the eight Florida counties that make up the "Nature Coast", stretching along the Big Bend area from Apalachee Bay to Anclote Key. Clicking the county name links will take you to a page with a more detailed description of each county, and a list of parks, preserves, natural features, and activities you may want to include in your plans. Or ... click the "Explore" and "Filter" buttons to find places with activities that you enjoy.
The counties of Florida's Nature Coast believe that many people - our residents, and those who travel here from far away - think having a good time involves more than expensive restaurants, theme parks, and crowded beaches. Sure, those are all fun things to do ... but when you want to get away, we have what you're looking for. Forests to explore, blackwater rivers and crystal clear spring-fed streams to paddle, secluded spots to camp, and trails to ride and hike. Our tourist destinations are laid-back, or exciting - depending on how you want to interact with the natural surroundings. Want to go mountain biking, or backpacking, exploring by kayak, or star-gaziing? We have the adventure for you!

But don't get us wrong ... you can experience all this natural beauty and still only be a short drive from local restaurants, hotels, and quaint historic towns with all the comforts of home.
