Fort Island Trail Park
Nestled along the scenic waters of the Crystal River, Florida, Fort Island Trail Park is a hidden gem of Citrus County. This tranquil 14-acre riverfront park provides a perfect escape for nature enthusiasts, boaters, and families looking to immerse themselves in the pristine landscapes of Florida's Nature Coast.

Surrounded by lush coastal environments, the park captures the quintessential charm of Old Florida, away from busier tourist hubs. For water enthusiasts, the park serves as an exceptional gateway to the Gulf of Mexico and local tidal waterways. Fishing is a primary draw here. Anglers frequently visit the park to target local saltwater and brackish species like mangrove snapper, catfish, and common snook. It includes a two-lane paved boat ramp, allowing motorized watercraft to launch smoothly into the river.

Fort Island Park also serves as a great launch point for kayakers and paddeboarders wishing to explore the calm, winding marsh creeks of Salt River and Crystal River. It is about a 2-1/2 mile paddle from here to Kings Bay and downtown Crystal River.

Beyond the water's edge, visitors can enjoy excellent shoreline amenities and land-based recreation. A highlight of the property is its combination boardwalk and fishing pier which extends out over the river. For those looking to spend a relaxing day out, the park offers clean public restrooms with running water, alongside covered picnic pavilions. The shaded setups are completely free and operating on a first-come, first-served basis, making them ideal for family gatherings. There is a fee required to use the boat ramps and park a trailer. Swiming is not permitted.
