Lake Hernando Park is nestled on the shores of Lake Hernando - a 516-acre
freshwater body that belongs to the expansive Tsala Apopka Chain of Lakes. This
public county park in Hernando, Florida, offers a balanced blend of water-based
recreation and onshore amenities, drawing in both local residents and regional
visitors. The park is often referred to as just "Hernando Park", or as "Hernando
Beach".

For water enthusiasts and
fishermen, the park features a public boat launch with two concrete ramps. A
long beach, with a roped off swimming area, is available along the lakefront.
For families, the park includes a kids playground. A short pier and gazebo
offers nice views of the park and surrounding area.
The park is also equipped for gatherings and day-long outings, offering covered
pavilions and picnic tables that are available on a first-come, first-served
basis, though they can also be reserved through the Citrus County Parks and
Recreation department for guaranteed use. Barbecue grills are distributed near
the picnic spaces, and public restrooms are accessible on-site.
Lake Hernando Park functions as a venue for local community events. Most
notably, it hosts the annual Lake Hernando Dragon Boat Festival, an event that
brings competitive teams, spectators, and local vendors to the shoreline in
November of each year. The park's geographic location also makes it a popular
detour for cyclists and hikers traveling the nearby Withlacoochee State Trail,
as the Hernando Trailhead sits just a short distance away.
