Held annually since 2018,
the Lower Suwannee Art & Nature Festival is held each Spring at Glen Dyals Park
in Dixie County. It features artists, artisans, crafter and food vendors from
all over north Florida. The emphasis at this rural one-day long affair is on
arts and crafts that celebrate and depict Florida's natural landscapes and
wildlife.
If you are looking to view or purchase paintings and photographs of coastal
scenes, water birds and aquatic life, this is your type of festival. Metal
sculptors and wood artists are also here to display their creations. Along with
the art, you'll also enjoy barbeque and other Florida favorite dishes - served
at shaded tables - while listening to live music from local musicians.
The venue for the Lower Suwannee Art & Nature Festival is appropriately
positioned adjacent to the Lower Suwannee National Wildlife Refuge. Glen Dyals
Park is located along SE 349 Highway in Dixie County about two miles before you
get to the end of the road and the remote town of Suwannee. About the only way
out-of-towners can get there is by driving 21 miles south from Old Town in Dixie
County. It actually seems a bit surprising that there would be a small town and
public park at the end of this long, desolate, highway. Once you get here,
admission and parking is free.
The festival is organized by employees and volunteers of the Suwannee Library
Technical Center, and is supported by several other local groups.
