Suwannee Street Tract - Log Landing Wildlife Management Area
Lying along the winding path of the Suwannee River in northeast Dixie County, the Log Landing Wildlife Management Area (WMA) is a hidden gem for seasoned hunters, dedicated birdwatchers and hikers or bikers looking for a special way to experience Florida's Nature Coast. Management of the area is a joint venture between the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the Suwannee River Water Management District. There are very few public conveniences or facilities within the area.

The Log Landing WMA actually spans nine individual disconnected tracts along the river - some of which are in Gilchrist and Lafayette Counties as well as Dixie County. We have also including information on this website about the Tracts in Gilchrest and Lafayette Counties because of their close proximity - and because several of them offer more public facilities than those in Dixie County.

Of all the Tracts in the Log Landing Wildlife Management Area, Suwannee Street may be one of the best for public access and facilities. It occupies about 626 acres in Gilchrist County, on the east bank of the Suwannee River, near the town of Bell.

At the north end of the Tract you will find the Log Landing Boat Ramp - a paved one lane public ramp open during daylight hours. A short docking area is available, along with truck and trailer parking. Access the ramp at the west end of NW 6th Street. Near the south boundary of the Tract, the Wannee Boat Ramp provides access to the river for boaters and kayakers. It is also a paved one lane ramp with parking. There are no restrooms or other public conveniences at these two launch locations.

The Suwannee Street Tract is actually composed of two separate non-contiguous area along the Suwannee River. The south area - almost completely enclosed by a large loop in the river, is not accessible accept by watercraft.

Hunting is permitted in the WMA. So be sure to check local regulations and hunting seasons before your visit. Activities & Facilities
