Boyette's Grove & Citrus Attraction
Boyett’s Grove & Citrus Attraction is a classic, nostalgic roadside attraction located near Brooksville. It is widely celebrated as a slice of "Old Florida" kitsch and agritourism, blending a working citrus business with an eccentric hodgepodge of family activities.

Boyett’s Grove originally opened in the 1960s as a simple, family-run roadside fruit stand where locals and tourist could buy fruit fresh from the grove. In 1975, they built a massive, traditional Florida gift shop to attract tourists year-round. In the mid-1980s, the family-owned operation began opening their gates to donated and rescued wildlife, creating a mini zoo. Over the decades, they continued to add various quirky features, transforming the grove from a simple fruit stand into the beloved, sprawling roadside landmark it is today.

Visiting the main shop area is free, though there is an admission fee to access the wildlife park and specific activities. Even with all the additional activities, citrus is still central to the business. During the harvesting season (typically November through May), you can purchase fresh grove oranges, grapefruits, tangerines, and kumquats. Best of all, visitors can look into the packing house and watch a refurbished fruit washing and packing machine from the 1940s in live operation. You can also order custom gift fruit boxes to be shipped anywhere.

The 5-acre wildlife park features paved walkways winding through lush tropical foliage, fruit trees, and habitats for rescued animals. You can purchase bags of feed to interact with the animals, which include camels, zebras, monkeys, wallabies, llamas, goats, and a 13-foot alligator named "Elvis". An attached aviary lets you walk among a variety of free-flying and caged tropical birds, including vibrant macaws and parrots.

Perfect for kids, the dinosaur cave indoor section features roaring animatronic dinosaur replicas - including a T-Rex and Pterodactyl. At the DonoMight Gold Mine, kids and families can purchase a bag of "miner's mud" and head over to a sluice box to pan for gems, fossils, and "gold," which can be traded in for prizes at the gift shop. Or, play 18 holes of mini-golf at Boyett's creatively themed 18-hole indoor/outdoor miniature golf course loaded with props that make for great family photo opportunities.

The gift shop itself is a massive experience. It is packed ceiling-to-floor with ultimate Floridiana items: orange blossom perfume, shark teeth, real fossils, alligator heads, coconut patties, shell art, and homemade jams and sauces. There is even a quirky tribute area dedicated to Elvis Presley. Before heading out, you can stop by their old-fashioned ice cream parlor, which serves up to 24 flavors of hand-dipped ice cream, sundaes, cane-sweetened sodas, and massive banana splits.

If you appreciate nostalgia, quirky road trips, and authentic Florida history, Boyett's Grove & Citrus Attraction is an entertaining place to spend an afternoon.
