Occupying three acres at the very tip of Pine
Island, Pine Island Park is Hernando County's only public beach. The white
sand beach is shaded by palm trees and provides a number of shelters and
pavilions that are available on a first-come first-served basis.
Other amenities include beach volleyball
courts, picnic tables, barbecue grills, a kid's playground, and an observation
tower overloooking the beach and Gulf of Mexico. A concession stand is available
for food and drinks. Pets and alcoholic beverages are not permitted in the park.
There is a parking fee charged to enter the park area. Swimmers enter the water
at their own risk - no lifeguard is on duty.
