One of the
world's premier skydiving centers, Skydive City, located at the Zephyrhills
Municipal Airport, has been in business since 1990. It provides all the
facilities and staff needed for training and certification. Skydivers and
competition teams from all over the world come to Skydive City for training and
competitions.
Skydive City regularly hosts events, including many world class competitions. In
1998, 2003, and 2004 they set and broke world records with 121 skydivers forming
2 separate formations on the same dive. In 1998, the Z-Spot team from Skydive
City took the gold medal in 4-way formation skydiving at the US Nationals. An
event calendar on their website (see link below) shows when special events will
be held or when famous skydive teams will be visiting. In the video at the top
of this page, you can see the Qatar Falcons competition 8-way skydiving team
getting ready for a jump (1:05 into the video).
This full-service skydiving center has its own fleet of airplanes that can
accommodate up to 22 people per load. The Hard Dock Cafe has food and beverages,
and the Sunset Bar is open after hours. The Sunshine Factory gear and pro shop
has all the equipment you might need. Areas are available to do your packing and
rigging, or on-site certified riggers can do it for you. A 3,000 square foot
viewing area offers unobstructed views of the landing area, and is open to the
public. Even if you don't skydive, watching the action can be quite a show.
More than 14 acres are available for free camping for skydivers who want to stay
at Skydive City. There are 70 RV slots that you can rent by the night, for a
month or the entire season. Many are full-service slots, and all have electric
hookup available. Trailers with bunks are also available for rental.
Reservations are required for overnight accommodations.
