One
of Pasco County's newer parks, Sun West Park is a recreational waterfront
facility developed around a former limestone quarry known locally as "Sun West
Mines". The 70 acre spring-fed lake is deep aqua in color and features a
beautiful man-made white sand beach. It is located in northwest Pasco County
just west of U.S. Highway 19 off of Old Dixie Highway.
The large beach area is open to swimming from sunrise to sunset. Lifeguards are
on duty between the hours of 10 to 6 PM during the summer months. There is also
a concession stand and beach volleyball courts. No pets or alcoholic beverages
are allowed in the park. There are no grills, and campfires are not allowed.
Parking is $5.00 per day.
In addition to the beach and picnicking facilities, the "Lift Adventure Park"
provides a variety of activities at extra cost - which is only open on weekends.
"Aqua Park" is a giant inflatable playground and obstacle course where you can
run, climb, jump, swing and slide to your heart's content. The "Wake Park" is a
cable drawn facility for wakeboarding across the lake. You can also rent kayaks
and stand up paddleboards for use on the lake.
