The West Pasco Historical Society Museum & Library) serves
as the primary repository for preserving and sharing the heritage of West Pasco
County, Florida. Situated along Circle Boulevard at the edge of Sims Park in downtown
New Port Richey, the museum offers visitors a clear look into the region's cultural
evolution.

The museum is housed in a restored 1915 schoolhouse originally built in Seven Springs.
It was moved to Sims Park in 1981 and dedicated as the historical society's
headquarters in 1983. A research library wing was added to the building in 1992,
creating a dedicated area for local historical archives.
Exhibits showcase early indigenous history with collections of arrowheads and tools,
alongside pioneer-era displays featuring vintage clothing, household items, and
antiques. The museum features exhibits dedicated to local settlements, including
New Port Richey, Elfers, and surrounding communities, highlighting founding figures
and early business ventures. Displays also explore New Port Richey's 1920s boom
period when prominent silent film stars and celebrities frequented the town with
hopes of making it the "Hollywood of the East".
The library contains hundreds of books on Pasco County and Florida history, as well
as historic regional maps and original print newspapers. Researchers can access
extensive collections of local high school yearbooks, genealogical records, and
historical photograph archives. In addition to operation of the museum and library,
the West Pasco Historical Society maintains a website (see link below) with extensive
resources relating to Pasco County history.
The museum and library are open Friday through Sunday for limited hours. Free historical
programs are presented monthly by the Society at the neighboring Peace Hall in Sims
Park.
