Myron B. Hodge City Park
Nestled along the banks of the Sopchoppy River, Myron B. Hodge City Park serves
as the scenic heart of Sopchoppy. Covering approximately 35 acres, this park is
a masterclass in "Old Florida" charm, offering a tranquil escape that feels
worlds away from the frantic pace of modern life.

The park’s primary draw is its stunning proximity to the river. Known for its
deep, tea-colored "blackwater," it provides a dramatic backdrop for the park’s
boardwalk and fishing pier. Visitors often find themselves lingering on the
docks to catch a glimpse of a passing manatee or to watch the ripples of a
jumping mullet.
Hodge Park is now home to the Curtis Mill Schoolhouse - a one room structure
built in 1907, and moved to its current location in the park.
For those looking to get on the water, the park features a well-maintained
public boat ramp, providing easy access for kayakers, canoers, and boaters
looking to explore the winding curves of the river as it flows toward
Ochlockonee Bay.
Myron B. Hodge Park is designed to be as functional as it is beautiful. A
centerpiece of the park is the historic train depot, which serves as a venue for
weddings, family reunions, and local festivals. The park boasts multiple shaded
picnic pavilions, a modern playground for children, and designated areas for
camping.
The park also features 26 camping sites for RVs, as well as primitive tent
camping. Electric hookup and a sewer dump facility is available. Leashed pets are permitted in the park and the campground. No swimming
is permitted.
