Brooksville
has been home to the Florida Blueberry Festival since at least 2012. But after
the 2017 event, issues regarding the location and finances caused the organizers
of the Florida Blueberry Festival to relocate to Kissimmee, Florida. Not willing
to let a long tradition die, city residents and officials organized what is now
know as the Brooksville Blueberry Festival.
The Brooksville Blueberry Festival is held in downtown Brooksville on the last
weekend of April. Entrance to the event, as well as parking, is free. Features
include live music on stage, a kid's zone, many food and craft vendors, a craft
beer garden, a community showcase, and the historic atmosphere of downtown
Brooksville.
But of course the main draw for most attendees will be "Blueberry Lane" where
all things blueberry are available ... blueberry pie, blueberry wine, blueberry
breads and shortcake, blueberry beer, blueberry soaps and candles, and - of
course - lots of fresh blueberries available for snacking or to take home.
