Swamp Fest
is a three day festival of music, arts, crafts, food and good times. Beginning
as a small community fundraising event, it has grown to an annual event drawing
thousands of people. Although the location has changed several times since its
inception in 1994, the Swamp Fest has now settled on
Linda Pedersen Park as its
home - a rural back-woods setting with forest, Jenkins Creek, and swamps as a
backdrop - perfect for this authentic Florida style festival.
The entertainment stage hosts nearly non-stop musical performances
featuring folk, country, instrumental and dance groups for all three
days of the event. Food vendors and food trucks serve up tasty food for
attendees who will also find over a hundred arts and crafts vendors selling
unique hand crafted goods.
One of the unique features that sets the Swamp Fest apart from others is its
"Swamp Monster Contest", with separate competitions for adults and kids.
Cash prizes are awarded, and some of the costumes can be very interesting.
Entrants are encouraged to make their own costumes and wear them during the day
to make things entertaining for other attendees. A T-shirt and logo design
contest is also part of the festivities, as well as prize raffles.
There is a nominal admission fee for the event, which must be paid cash. Parking
is free at the festival grounds, and with several overflow parking locations
served by shuttles.
