The Old Florida Celebration of the Arts -
also referred to as the Cedar Key Annual Fine Arts Festival - is not just your
standard arts and crafts fair. This is a nationally renowned juried art show
where each of the 120 artists are selected to attend by an experienced jury of
art critics. Artwork on display consists of paintings and fine prints, along
with glass, wood and metal sculpture.
The event is held along historic 2nd Street in
Cedar Key ... one of the oldest
towns in Florida. Be sure to visit the Cedar Key Historical Society Museum at
the corner of 2nd and 'D' Street to get a taste of the rich history of the Cedar
Keys. The small town atmosphere of this quaint fishing village is evident along
Dock Street, where you'll also find casual and fine dining restaurants serving
local seafood. The picturesque nature of the town, along with the amazing
natural vistas of
Cedar Keys National Wildlife Refuge, which surrounds the town,
is one of the reasons this area is a magnet to artists from far and wide.
The Old Florida Celebration of the Arts also includes live music and food
vendors in the city park adjacent to the event venue. There are children's art
activities and a playground. The Cedar Key Lions Club sponsors the musical
entertainment which is free to the public.
