The Cotee River Seafest - formerly known
as the Cotee River Seafood & Blues Festival - is a three day celebration of
seafood, boats, and the Blues (music, that is). Held in downtown
New Port Richey at
Sims Park and surrounding area, it is
one of the largest festivals in Pasco County.
Taking center stage (figuratively, not literally) are a wide variety of seafood
vendors that set up shop at the festival. From crab cakes to grouper sandwiches,
seafood lovers will be able to find just about anything they're looking for.
Beer and wine is also sold on the festival grounds.
Live music begins at noon and continues into the evening on all three days ...
featuring some of the best blues and folk groups in the southeast. The
Sims Park Amphitheater provides a
perfect venue for viewing and listening to the entertainment. Chairs are
provided, or you can bring your own.
The area around Orange Lake hosts a boat show on Saturday and Sunday. Boat tours
of the Cotee River are provided for a small fee aboard the "Miss Daisy". And the
"DuckTona 500 Duck Race gives everyone an opportunity to get involved with a
rubber ducky race beginning at the Main Street bridge - with awards and prizes
immediately following the race.
Arts and crafts vendors are also on hand for your shopping pleasure. The
Sims Park super-playground is always a
favorite with the kids - and during the festival there will be bounce houses and
slides (for a fee).
