Held in the "Forest Capital
of Florida" just south of
Perry, the Florida
State Bluegrass Festival was recognized by the International Bluegrass Music
Association as one of the most successful new events in 2006.
Forest Capital Museum
State Park provides the perfect venue.
The three day event begins on Thursday evening with open mike night. Friday and
Saturday are filled with some of the best bluegrass groups from Florida and the
south. Sunday morning, there is typically a gospel sing to end the event before
everyone heads home. Weekend and single day event tickets are available.
Also headlining the event is the "Taylor County Chili Challenge", a chili
cookoff held on Saturday. The public is invited to grab a bowl and spoon to
taste the entries. A "Kid's Zone" is provided with bounce houses, face painting,
finger painting, giant slide, and more.
In addition to live musical entertainment, there are arts and crafts booths,
free music workshops, and food vendors on site.
