St. Marks Stone Crab Festival
![Stone Crab Fest Logo](StoneCrabFest.png)
The stone crab season opens in October, and
the Saint Marks Stone Crab Festival celebrates the occasion. Begun in 1997 by
the owners of the Riverside Cafe as a local excuse to party, the event has grown
into a community wide project with many sponsors, and with the proceeds going to
charity.
Obviously the big draw of the day is the stone crab, served a number of
different ways. Numerous food vendors are present, along with arts and crafts
booths, educational displays, and children's activities.
After opening ceremonies, live on-stage music is non-stop all afternoon. A very
small fee is charged for admission, parking is free and shuttle service is
provided at no charge. No pets are allowed ... and no smoking is allowed.
