World Woods Parcel -
Annutteliga Hammock Unit - Withlacoochee State Forest
The Annuteliga Hammock Unit covers 7,088 acres of land managed by the State of
Florida conservation and Recreation Lands Program, and is part of Withlacoochee
State Forest. It is composed of two tracts; the
Sugarmill Woods parcel and the
World Woods parcel. Over 14 miles of trails are available within Annutteliga
Hammock.
The World Woods parcel includes the Hammock Trail ... a 4 mile loop with a
bailout allowing for a shorter 2 mile loop. The trailhead is located on the west
side of County Road 491 north of U.S. Highway 98. The navigation map below will
take you to the trailhead.
Only hikers are allowed within
the World Woods area. This area is predominatnly a xeric hammock natural
community with karst landforms, depressions, sinks, and a few small caves. Dogs
on a leash are permitted.
Primitive campsites are available along the Hammock Trail. and include a picnic
table, fire ring and trash container. Group camping is also available, but
requires a reservation from the Florida Forest Service.
