Jefferson County
Jefferson County stretches all the way from the Gulf of Mexico to the Georgia state line. So, for all practical purposes, only the southern portion can really be considered part of Florida's "Nature Coast". The largest town - Monticello - is in the section north of Interstate 10 ... leaving the southern part along the Gulf coast almost devoid of any population. It's one of those areas that looks completely dark when you fly over at night - making it an ideal place to set up your telescope. Made up mostly of conservation areas and wildlife management areas, it may be hard to find signs of civilization. So go explore those forest dirt roads with your four-wheeler ... you know you want to!
