Wakulla (and Leon) County
Wakulla county's largest town - and county seat - is Crawfordsville ... with a polulation of less than 30,000 people. That says a lot for how undeveloped and pristine you will find this area. And yet you are never more than a few miles away by car from a local hotel or restaurant. If your travels need to include a certain amount of city lights to keep you awake at night, Talahassee is close by.

Wakula Springs State Park is probably the most popular tourist attraction in the county, but two other state parks and large areas of forest preserve offer many opportunities for adventurers and explorers. You also don't want to miss St. Marks Wildlife Refuge - home to the second oldest lighthouse in Florida.
