Levy County
Levy is one of the largest counties making up the "Nature Coast", and a fifth of the county's land area is set aside for national and state wildlife areas. It was established in 1845 and named after David Levy Yulee, the first United States Senator from Florida. The county seat is Bronson, while Williston stands as its largest city. The local economy is deeply rooted in agriculture and natural resources - particularly the commercial fishing industry in Cedar Key and Yankeetown. Forestry, along with the production of peanuts and watermelon, are also a big part of the economy. You can rest, wander and explore the natural beauty in over 25 nature-based recreational sites. But if you think there's nothing for normal tourists to do here ... you haven't been to Cedar Key - sometimes referred to as the "Key West of the Nature Coast".
